Power Outage

Power Outage
Last night the power went out on most of Main Street in Myersville. What a wonderful way for our Father God to bring us together! There we were, my daughters and I huddled, cuddled, snuggled on the couch, albeit each with an iPod in hand! If I got up to get something or heaven forbid, go to the bathroom I had 2 ducklings following me, each an inch behind if not directly attached to me! How funny it is that our beloved home becomes a scary and unfamiliar place in total darkness. Needless to say, I LOVED this togetherness which I don't very often get anymore since they are getting older and more independent. In  between iPod games we talked, yes, we actually talked and laughed and marveled about the power of electricity. We made fun of our dog who apparently didn't even notice the total absence of light despite the fact that we leave the lights on all the time because we are poor conservationists. In what ways does your Father bring you together? Please share!

John 1:5  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Zucchini!

This is the time of year, Summer, when vegetables just show up on your front porch in a bag.
You told someone you loved zucchini and they remembered and thought about you. Was it you D***? I have to adhere to the blog guidelines and not use actual names in order to protect the innocent you know.
It's a feeling I feel, that words are never adequate to describe- that feeling when you realize you were thought of, you were on someone's mind. Thank you for the zucchini and as you see here it's not just about zucchini but much much more!

My Judge

I can't believe its been 4 months since the last entry!
Sometimes I think about forcing myself to do an entry but it always feels wrong to do it that way and I resist the urge. Then I walk away unsure that it is the right decision.

NOW I know it's right. Last night it easily came to me directly from HIM.
I knew without a doubt it was not something I created. It was the feeling that came with it that said so. It was sent to me because of who I am and who I used to be. It was also sent to me with the purpose of sharing it.
It's a truth. Here it is-
"I used to be judgmental. Then i dropped the judge part after realizing I wasn't qualified for the job."
You see I used to be very judgmental but had an awakening that changed all that. Now I leave the judging to God.

Changes...

God is infinite, unchangeable and eternal. The world is not.
I think we are so caught up in all the constant changes of
our world we forget this. It is also a realization that some
of us have not arrived at yet because we haven't yet
needed to be comforted by his unchangeable nature.
I recently sought the comfort of his unchangeable nature
in the face of dishonesty of long time friends. Just like
that, change was all around soaked in disappointment and upset.
Some friendships you feel are forever but nothing really is
except for Our Father in Heaven. He is our one true constant
in the face of change. Such an amazing comfort when you
really meditate on it!
While these relationships have ended, this trial gave birth
to some pretty amazing events in my life and the lives of
my children!

Connections

I think connections are always more meaningful when at first they are hidden.
It is at the point at which they all come together to reveal the bigger picture.
There is a purpose in all things. There is a reason for why things occur.
Coincidence is not a word included in my vocabulary as a Christian.
There are none in my opinion.
Because of this, as a Christian I have many 'aha!' moments after I am allowed
to see why my Father sometimes does things. I am not always allowed to see
and this is a result of my Father's protective love for me.
This calls to mind the biblical passage:

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven"
Ecclesiastes 3:1
King James Bible

I look around at my brothers and sisters in Church and thank God for all our connections to one another.

Hats

Recently I had a daydream about having a day at church where all the ladies would wear their fancy hats.
Sorta like Easter Sunday in Victorian times- picture those fancy frilly Easter bonnets. At the time I had no idea why I was daydreaming about this. Then a friend called me and left me a message on my phone. In her message she wanted to know if she could join me for church this Sunday.
I called her and the first thing out of her mouth was "Should I wear my fancy hat?" I now know God was letting me know he had just planted a seed!
And oh yeah- my answer to her question was a resounding "Yes! Please come to church! But hold off on the hat since I have
another friend that wants to visit Salem soon and she'd want to wear her hat too!"
Do you have a story to share about a seed that was planted by your heavenly Father?
